Gran Punched and Kicked For £30

A GRANNY aged 92 was kicked in the head and beaten black and blue on her own doorstep — for just £30.
Part-blind Edith Brickhill was attacked by a callous thug as she let her dog out at home in Moston, Manchester.

He kicked and punched her in the face before snatching the cash from her purse and fleeing — leaving her battered and bleeding on the ground.

Edith — who has now been targeted by yobs three times in just over a year — has been left scared for her life and terrified to return to the house she has lived in for more than four decades.

After the attack she managed to stagger to a neighbour's house before being rushed to hospital.

Edith's family believe she had been watched by the yob who pounced when she opened the door at 7.20pm on Wednesday night.

Neighbours told how they were living in fear of violent robbers targeting the weak and frail.

Police are today probing whether the attack was linked to two previous incidents.

In November 2009, Edith answered her door to a man who pushed past and stole her bag.

Last summer she was left shaken after a yob banged repeatedly on her windows, demanding money.

Daughter Janet Boswell, 52, said: "Why not just push her out of the way — why would anyone need to kick her in the head?

"She's a frail old lady. And it was all for about £30. She's 92 years old and she's lived a wonderful life.

"For this to happen to her — I can't put into words how appalled I am."

Janet said the attack had changed her mother's personality.

She said: "She's not the bubbly person that she was. She's gone quite introverted since this has started happening.

"She's absolutely terrified — she said he might come round and kill her."

Police said the attack was "an act of sheer cruelty".

Detective Inspector Denise Sweeney said: "We are still investigating what motivated such a senseless attack on a defenceless, vulnerable pensioner as she was letting her dog out. We are doing everything we can to get to the bottom of it."

Edith's neighbours described her as a "lovely" woman.

They said people on the estate were convinced vulnerable people were being singled out by thieves.

The neighbour who found Edith said: "Everybody is scared on the estate — petrified."

A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

Sadly this seems to happen more and more Kel, what bloody mentality must you have to do that to an old lady, this is just disgusting, it's about time our justice system got tough with these animals, I mean really tough..... 10 years minimum.

I believe that little old ladies need to be given shooting lesons and a (sufficiently-powered for her own capability) GUN.

And before you anti-firearm people start spouting off, THAT IS NOT THE SOLUTION,.....but it WOULD help if a few examples were made....a few punkbrains left along the walkways for the wild animals to dine off.

Wouldn't that be fun to watch, some hoodlum threatening a little old lady with a knife.....and then she pulls out a hand cannon and blows his brains out, in an ideal world that could happen.

It would!

I have read in recent articles of this exact thing really happening, and I have also seen cases around here where I live in which the police simply "can't find any suspect or motive" when a lowly scoundrel who has never done anything constructive in its life accidentally ran into a bullet.

Makes ya wonder.

Re: Gran Punched and Kicked For £30

Just the other night my friends husband was outside having a cigarette when he saw 3 lads come out of the house on the corner and get into a car and drive away without the lights on...fishy indeed.

Well in that house lives an old lady with alzheimer's and her husband past away recently. They had knocked on, she answered, then they robbed her of money, jewellery and took off. Now thankfully they didn't harm her but still horrific to do to someone.

The police said that in the area the same group were targeting old people especially those living alone. Thankfully last i heard they had made arrests.
