It is the significance of the trees origins....whether it is lore or truth....and the significance of said tree's presenct existence and reverence by the people that makes it worthwhile.

That tree was a historical landmark. It united the citizens.
Nazism united Germany too should I recall correctly.

It's a tree, there are many more like it, many much older too. Oh pooh the townsfolk didn't protect their (very distant second) most important tourist drawcard...
