this is one of the reasons we have law enforcement and a court system. sure, both have their share of flaws. not all law enforcement protect and serve when on duty. some of them are worse criminals than those they arrest. as for the court system, there are those who will be sentenced to do more time for committing a victimless crime than those who have been convicted of comitting real crimes such murder and rape.

however, if we start taking crime into our own hands, we won't be much more civilized than the third world countries who do mob lychings - beating and/or burning someone to death just because someone accused them of this or that.

our court system gives the accused - or at least is suppose to give the accused a chance to defend themself. it also helps in deterring one from making false allegations against another. sadly enough, sometimes the innocent are convicted and sometimes the guilty walk. with the knowledge we have now with using DNA samples, hopefully there will be less innocent people convicted and less criminals walking away scott free. there also will be less people making false accusations against others for crimes such as rape. (my heart goes out for the many guys who spent up to 35 years of their life in prison for a crime they never committed.)

without law enforcement and/or a justice system, it isn't too difficult for someone to accuse another person of something and get others riled up about the accusations. its a recipe for a mob lynching and the victim of that lynching often ends up looking like the recipe results that got left in the oven way too long.

that or else the person is a do-it-yourself kind of guy and then the accused or perhaps not accused but in the wrong place at the wrong time person ends up looking much like "bad guy" in those videos where there is weird music and the "good guys" always say "god is great" in a foreign language. (it sounds like "allah akbar")

I think he did the right thing provided he got the right people. Let's face it, the justice system in the US as well as other parts of the world are beginning to become more liberal in thought and the punishment not fitting the crime. Any act committed against a child should result in death. No appeals, no getting off for a loophole, death. The child survives but their entire life is screwed up with the trauma of the act perpetrated against them.

If the courts took the crime of rape seriously the fathers and mothers wouldn't have to go to extremes. Unless there is a mortal death, the punishment can be rather light if any at all. The recipients of the crime carry the burden of "hate" and control the rest of their lives.
