Re: Father of Baby Born With Down Syndrome Keeps Him; Wife Divorces Him
It's the 21st century however. She could have had an abortion or you know, used birth control or kept her damn legs closed to prevent the boy's conception. I don't understand why she (or any other like-minded woman), continued the pregnancy in the first place with the attitude that she has -- not just about people with Downs but kids in general. At least this little boy will grow up with a father who has infinite love for him. |

Re: Father of Baby Born With Down Syndrome Keeps Him; Wife Divorces Him
I think what you guys are forgetting is that not all cultures are accepting of people with disabilities. In many cultures it is believed that all sorts of disabilities are punishments for sins, and if a baby is born with a disability it is considered to be because the parent/s are sinners. Even in non-religous cultures disabilites are often considered something extremely shameful for the entire family and disabled people must be hidden away or even disposed of. The fact that this mother (maybe) chose to leave her disabled child might not have anything to do with motherly feelings at all, it could be simply because of her culture's view on Downs syndrome. We should also consider the possibility that fetal tests might not be something that is available (/to just anyone) where this couple lived. Not all countries are as priviliged as others. |

People have already donated almost $500,000 to this man and his son. -Proof Link- http://www.gofundme.com/bringleohome Here is what the mother posted on her Facebook page: It's really a HE said, SHE said thing. I'm NOT going to voice my opinion on this topic as I think it'd piss off one too many people |

Re: Father of Baby Born With Down Syndrome Keeps Him; Wife Divorces Him
She said "with my salary of 180$ being partly supported by my sister and living in my mother’s place and having no other income, as my husband did not work, I would not be able to raise my child with special needs." Forget the special needs, who the fuck would bring a baby into the world knowing they have no reliable income. Total stupidity. |
