Fatal Stabbing at Local High School - Abbotsford, BC, CAN

This is about an hour away from my home, total bummer that a kid died.

There's apparently a video of the stabbing itself which I hope to source for us.

Nov. 1 2016
- Two teenaged girls stabbed, one dead.
- Suspect believed to be vagrant from Alberta, age 21 y/o.
- Suspect identified as Gabriel Klein, 21.
- Alleged that suspect was under mental duress, or high on drugs at the time of the incident.

A teenaged student is dead after a double stabbing at Abbotsford Senior Secondary school on Tuesday afternoon.

The second victim is in hospital, recovering from wounds.

A male suspect is in custody.

For full details of the Abbotsford Police Department press conference held tonight on this incident, check new posts on abbynews.com.

Abbotsford Senior is closed tomorrow, but counsellors will be available.

One person was arrested after a stabbing at Abbotsford Senior Secondary around 2 p.m. left two students with serious injuries that turned fatal for one.

The school was placed on lockdown and access to Abbotsford middle school was also limited. Around a dozen police cars were on scene, and paramedics and fire crews were also present.

Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald said officers were called just after 2 p.m. and told someone in the school had a weapon and there were one or two victims.

When they arrived, they found two people who had been wounded. Police located and arrested a suspect "almost immediately," MacDonald said.

The condition of the two victims wasn't known, though both were airlifted for further treatment.

A graphic video circulating online Tuesday purportedly showed several seconds of the incident in the rotunda at Abbotsford Senior Secondary. Police urged people to neither view nor share the video.

A staging area for parents was set up at the nearby Abbotsford Arts Centre, at 2329 Crescent Way. Police conducted a search of the school, but MacDonald said it was "precautionary" in nature. The lockdown at the middle school was lifted at about 4 p.m., and at the high school at about 4:30.

"We are co-operating in an active investigation with APD," an Abbotsford school district spokesperson told The News.

Abbotsford News reporter Vikki Hopes described a chaotic scene at the school, with dozens of parents – including one in emotional distress – waiting for their children.

Outside, repeated loudspeaker notices advising students to stay in their classrooms could be heard.

A beautiful young lady and a parent's worst fear. As a parent of a beautiful and brilliant daughter, this hits home for me.

Just put a bullet him and be done with it. Seriously. You have video evidence of what he did. There's no question of his guilt. End his life.

To my knowledge the police are aware of the video evidence, a friend of a friend's daughter has this video on her cellular device as well - she's been informed to turn that in. It may even be a different video, I'm still trying to figure that out as I was never shown it.

They suspected initially that he was under the influence of narcotics or had some sort of severe psychological distress.

Re: Fatal Stabbing at Local High School - Abbotsford, BC, CAN

Abbotsford stabbing suspect, Gabriel Klein, has finally made his first court appearance almost one week after the tragic incident at Abbotsford Senior Secondary School.

After refusing to leave his cell and speak with a lawyer, he did appear just before noon on Monday via video link. He appeared to be naked, covered with a blanket and did not say anything.

He was then wheeled away in a wheelchair.

Crown said Klein has been to hospital twice and he’s not currently certified under the Mental Health Act.

He was certified last week after he was arrested but a psychologist decertified him on Wednesday, the day after the stabbing.

The 21-year-old is charged with second-degree murder and aggravated assault in connection with last week’s attack that killed teenager Letisha Reimer and injured another young girl who has not been identified.

Police do know he is originally from Alberta and has been in Vancouver since February or March of this year but has no fixed address.

A former friend of Klein’s spoke to Global News last week, saying he was “completely shocked” when he heard about Klein’s arrest.

“Back in high school, he was never the kind of person to even come across angry,” said Tanner McDougall. “I don’t think I even remember hearing about him getting in a fight or even having somebody mad at him.”

Klein is scheduled to next appear in court on Wednesday.
