your comparison is exactly right rapewhistle. also, nobody denies that it isn't a good idea to go out and drink, but drinking does not cause rape or any other crime. there may be some situations where being drunk makes you vulnerable (like walking alone), but it is never the victim's fault if they are raped. the sexual predator chooses to commit crimes.

Hey, calm it down with talks of "Inbred Town" and "Hick Town". Maryville is only 30 minutes from where I live (and sadly Missouri has been in this section a lot lately for some fucked up shit). They are, however, far from "Hick" or "Inbred." Let's not belittle our intelligence or make assumptions on the population as a whole because an article on the internet uses wording that makes it sound like the whole town joined together with pitchforks and cudgels like a dumb Simpson's mob.

It's not like that, but just felt I would chime in at least in that part. As for an opinion on the story; I have none. Just tired of seeing shit like this pop up.

Woman get's a 'slap on the wrist' sentence, if anything - a few weekends in jail as punishment for ruining a man's life. Don't want her false accusation to ruin her life like it did the man she falsely accused.

I think I'm the only one guilty of that in this thread and yeah I am aware that its not like that but I just wanted to say something insulting about the fuckers, didn't mean it literally, though the people in this instance have that mentality. Have you seem the vid of the guy going down on a girl in the street last week? She has a big smile on her face and pushes his head down!! She has now accused the guy of assault!!! False allegations of rape should be dealt with harshly, all the individuals property should be seized, all money withdrawn and handed to the falsely accused (in theory). Though there is a danger some people would be less likely to report offences

They didn't find the vid. Though for a few hundred a computer expert could get it off their phone but the police had a full confession from one of the guys so even with the vid chances are no action would have been taken anyway
