I remember reading this original story not too long ago. So glad that they took care of him, dude deserves to spend the rest of his days enjoying the money he well deserves and the benefits of fame he helped create.

Kinda ironic, Santana was, one of the very last people, to see Jaco Pastorius alive, in the same circumstances, on the night he was beaten to death. The whole rockstar life is rather inglorious, only a scant few make it REALLY big, the others on the fringes, just fall off by the way side as studio musicians, who are on most albums rather than the band, easily replace some junky who couldn't play to begin with.

It's not ironic in any way. Marcus was sent to prison (for whatever reason I'm too drunk to find), Jaco snuck on stage and later got his ass beat. Fucking bassists over-glorifying their importance on the world.  |

I tried to find out why he went to prison before I posted the article. I couldn't find anything. Santana's Wikipedia (I know, not really a great source) said he left the band for 'personal reasons'. And the only other things I found online were current articles that had basically the same info as this one.
