Effective Football (soccer) Tackle

"Manchester United winger Nani suffered a "deep gash" in his leg during the 3-1 Premier League defeat at Liverpool on Sunday.

A club spokesman said the Portuguese player's injury would be assessed on Monday.

Nani, United's most creative player this season, was caught on the shin by a dangerous tackle from Jamie Carragher shortly before halftime and was taken off on a stretcher.

Carragher was shown a yellow card by referee Phil Dowd."

It's a little more than a "cut"! At least for once a real injury is involved during a stoppage of play in a European soccer match.
