Driver Swerves to Miss Dog, Kills Man Mowing His Grass
DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. —A man riding a lawn mower in Davidson County was killed when he was hit by a truck Tuesday afternoon. North Carolina Highway Patrol troopers said Edward Burcham, 50, was driving east on Holly Grove Road when he swerved to miss a dog that ran out in front of his truck about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. The truck went off the road and struck Bobby Wayne Lambert, 73, as he was riding a lawn mower. Lambert died at the scene. Charges were pending against Burcham, troopers said. The crash is still under investigation. |

It's a reflex to swerve when something runs in front of your car. I can't imagine he meant to hit that guy. Sad story. |

Re: Driver Swerves to Miss Dog, Kills Man Mowing His Grass
that's true but i learned in drivers education never to swerve for an animal for this exact reason. you could hit a person that way.... there are tons of deer where i live (like, tons) but you learn really quickly (especially on ice) that it's better to hit the animal and fuck your car up then it is to swerve and kill somebody...for a deer. |

Re: Driver Swerves to Miss Dog, Kills Man Mowing His Grass
Who's dog was it? Sounds to me like the dogs owner is indirectly responsible for manslaughter. I fuckin' hate some dog owners; the irresponsible assholes who let their pets run rampant, and then act like you're the problem when you bring up anything that casts their dog in a negative light At least at 73 the guy had a full life |
