They're not profiting over the torture, and would be in better straits financially if they got rid of the people treating the animals inhumanely. They do not make a profit by harming the animals, and like they said, instead of torture being reported so it could be handled in a legal way, the filmmakers just sat back and watched.

But PETA capitalizes on every instance of abuse they see. They risk nothing while they use these videos for their own agenda. They're built on this shit.

So.. corporations get slammed with huge fines and they have to pay money for the animals that are abused.

PETA is set up themselves to make money from the torture. If they really cared, they'd be in there with lead pipes protecting the cows. But no.. they get film for their publicity, more likely to put a torture video on their website than in a court of law. In that way, they lure suckers in with "da poor animals" and you end up paying to support people that won't stand up for the animals they're exploiting.

PETA profits from animal abuse.

They're not these huge activists that get things done.. they're an advertising agency ready to slap their label on the next big thing to get their name out there.

So yeah.. inhumanities happen in this business.. the difference is that the companies are trying to get rid of abusers, trying to weed them out bureaucratically.. they're not perfect, not trying to say that at all.. but they do have a system to remove those people.

PETA.. well.. they'd rather have the people there so they can videotape them to further their own personal agenda.. they're not at risk of losing a multimillion dollar business, or their livelihoods.

If you think about it, who's really profiting from the animals being hurt? In my opinion, the people that videotaped this earned every second of their sentence.
Dude, you ever see the conditions egg laying hens are in? You ever see what is defined by law as Humane? The problem here is that Industry basically defines what is humane or not, through pressuring governments to do what they want.

This law, like many, is just another example of something pushed for by Industry, by their Lobbys....... Whos profiting by animals being hurt? The same people who profit by their employee's being hurt on the job because safety costs money too..... The more chickens you can jam into a cage, the more eggs your going to get thus the more profit your going to make.... Same is true for most farm animals. You ever see where foi gras
( spelling ?) comes from? Why is that considered humane? Because a fucking lobby group paid a whole bunch of cash to a Politician, thats why... there is no other logical explanation.

Botton line is the Government doesn't have the resources to police every farm, and Industry knows it.

Re: Documentors of Farm Animal Abuse to Get Longer Jail Sentence Than Abusers

animal cruelty is against the law. in some states it is a misdemeanor and in other states its a felony. but in many (most? all?) states, to my knowledge farm animals are excluded from animal cruelty laws. what? does not a cow or pig feel pain like a cat or dog? animal cruelty is animal cruelty. and all animal cruelty should be exposed and outlawed.

We are being watched, monitored and taped on almost every street corner, in most every business and just about any where... except perhaps in factory farms and slaughterhouses. the government can put hidden cameras anywhere they please for any or no reason at all yet the american citizen is starting to lose their rights to what they can and can not photograph and/or film. i think it is also illegal to film cops in some state/s isn't it? that runs parrallel with the farm thing. if there is any wrong doing, one can not present video evidence (probably the most reliable evidence there can be) against the cop (or farm) because the evidence is considered illegal. therefore, cops can abuse the citizens and farms and slaughterhouses can abuse the animals without any fear of being accountable for their actions.

I think this debate is pointless because it isn't so black and white.

It's really kind of ironic you would post something about the moral compass of a company being based on how they take care of their employees.

Because you know, this is a thread about people that document animal abuse getting harder sentences than the people they were trying to expose....

I'm not trying to debate the legality of animal abuse; it should be outlawed, and the people responsible prosecuted.

However, I feel that if whoever got these people to be hired under false pretense was really trying to help the animals, and not trying to further their next advertising or marketing campaign, then possibly, we wouldn't see these people in jail.

Animal abuse is evil.. but surely you can see at least a little of the hypocrisy coming from both sides?

I've met guys that work in abattoirs and they are disassociated from the animals, which I guess you kinda have to be.

Remember, it's only humans that feel compelled to be humane to the animals we eat! Ever watch a cat eat a mouse?

Re: Documentors of Farm Animal Abuse to Get Longer Jail Sentence Than Abusers

While I do understand some of the points they raise, I think it's diabolical that the ones recording the abuse and bringing it to light could get longer sentences than the actual abusers. It's ridiculous that they could get sentenced at all - after all, if it wasn't for them, the abuse would go on unnoticed - but to get longer sentences than the ones causing harm to animals just takes the piss.

I was in a bar one night when a jerk was laughing about setting fire to a cats tail, i set fire to his hair and i said "it fucking hurts dont it", i was arrested for it and charged with assult but it was worth it, i was allso arested for smashing a car window when a dog was shut in a car on a hot day,if i was in charge any animal cruelty would be punnished by 7 years in jail,
