Deadly Brain Amoeba Infects US Tap Water for the First Time
The CDC says it's found Naegleria fowleri, an almost always deadly amoeba, in a U.S. drinking water supply for the first time. A deadly brain amoeba that’s killed two boys this year has been found in a U.S. drinking water supply system for the first time, officials said Monday -- in a New Orleans-area system. The Naegleria fowleri parasite killed a 4-year-old Mississippi boy who likely got it playing on a back yard Slip 'N Slide, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officials say. Tests show it’s present throughout the water supply system in St. Bernard Parish, directly southeast of New Orleans. “We have never seen Naegleria colonizing a treated water supply before,” said Dr. Michael Beach, head of water safety for the CDC. “From a U.S. perspective this is a unique situation.” |

Sounds like a tactic perpetrated by soft drink companies to get you to buy more of their filtered tap water. If your waterboard is doing its job properly then this shouldn't have happened, it would have been detected before becomming a problem.

And the same can be said for C-Diff and MRSA in hospitals? The supposed bastion of health in the west? Bacteria is a living organism, it can adapt. |

Did you not read the article? It said it happened in Louisiana. No one down here does their job properly. Our infrastructure is a fucking joke. New Orleans literally lacks the funds to repair hundreds of miles of failing sewerage and water pipes. And just the other day, I saw a crackhead on South Rampart doing heroin. Like I said, rampant incompetence. |
