Dead Special Needs Child Was Emaciated Bed sores found on child's body Updated: Tuesday, 19 Apr 2011, 10:13 PM CDT Published : Tuesday, 19 Apr 2011, 10:13 PM CDT PATTIE SHIEH PATTIE SHIEH Reporter HOUSTON - We now know more about an 11-year-old boy whose body was found in a cardboard box. That box was in the back of an SUV being driven by his father, Jeffrey Singer. The child had cerebral palsy and was blind. Prosecutors tell us he was emaciated and there were bed sores on his body. The bizarre details in the child's death started unraveling with phone calls to Pasadena police from Singer's father and brother. They were worried about Singer's 11-year-old special needs son. Officers tracked down Singer and his vehicle. In the back was the decomposing body of his son. "He's distraught. It's devastating," said defense attorney Jim Lindeman. "We are eagerly awaiting the Medical Examiner's report which we feel would substantiate my client’s claim of not guilty." "His brother had given a statement that the 11-year-old had been left in the bathroom,” prosecutor Amanda Skillern told us. “The defendant went to the store. When the defendant returned, the 11-year-old was deceased." Even more troubling: 4 days would go by between the time the child died until police found his body. Child Protective Services has looked into accusations of abuse or neglect in this family twice. But nothing resulted in either investigation. Singer and his wife also have a teenage daughter. "The other child from this union, from this couple is safe and in an appropriate home and there was no harm, no injuries, no ill treatment of her," Lindeman said. The question remains: what about the child's mother? Lindeman has advised his client not to have any contact with this wife. when ever i read the local newspaper and it has errors in it i feel like i'm reading a tabloid, makes me feel stupid  |

Sometimes I wonder how they got into that job and how I could get into it as well. I am sure I'd do a much better job of story telling than half the news team. The weather dudes too. They wouldn't know rain if it was falling right on them |

Orozco | 0 comments The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences has ruled that the death of 10-year old Jonathan Singer in April a homicide. His father, Jeffrey Singer, has been charged with serious bodily injury to a child. Although the report did not specify how the victim died, it did list homicide as “manner of death”. The body of Jonathan Singer, who had cerebral palsy and was blind, was found in April of 2011 in the trunk of his father’s SUV in Houston. The family temporarily resided in a Pasadena apartment complex on Space Center Boulevard and NASA. According to the original police report by the Pasadena Police Department, Jeffrey Singer had been driving for several days with the remains of his son in the trunk before he drove to the Houston home of his father, the victim’s grandfather, and made statements that police determined to be incriminating. The victim’s grandfather called the Houston Police Department, who alerted the Pasadena PD. |
