Re: Cow Gets Head Stuck in Tree
Afaik right now the slaughter of cattle is prohibited only in some states of India, in others is tolerated, and in the remaining ones it's allowed with restrictions (you have to file a statement indicating age and gender of the cattle, reason why you want to kill it etc, basically you have to prove that you need to kill it in order to survive); much time ago it was prohibited almost anywhere: in ancient Greece, in ancient Rome, in ancient Egypt maybe even in China: but while the respect towards them can be easily explained with the fact that it's not smart to kill a cattle which gives to you fresh milk everyday (and this detail is mentioned everywhere, regardless the country or its religion), in India it's very different as Gandhi himself stated that the central fact of Hinduism is cow protection, he even stated that when your mom dies then that means only expenses and pain, while a cow is as useful dead as when she is alive. Which may sound as a nonsense, (but only to those who have no clue who he was and what he meant) The name of the cow in sanscrit could be be roughly translated into english as "the one that you should never kill". If i'm correct, if the cow is ill or is over 16, you can kill it without repercussions.

Re: Cow Gets Head Stuck in Tree
You do understand that only "cows" give milk; right? And then only if you keep them birthing every year or so. So you really only need one "bull". Any others can be dinner. Most people did not use cow's milk for drinking way back, goat's milk was easier to digest, especially for infants. So I don't understand why they figured on needing cows or "cattle". Btw, you only use the term cattle when speaking about beef on the hoof.
