So when it came time to plan her funeral, they decided to take an unconventional approach. Rather than inside a casket, Burbank’s body was placed sitting in a chair near a circular table full of items that the woman loved, WGNO reported. She held a menthol cigarette in one hand and a glass of Busch beer in the other. She also had a case of Busch beside her and a disco ball above the table. Burbank’s daughters told the news program that their other family members appeared to like the unique setup. The ladies organized the entire living room-like funeral setting with the help of the directors of Charbonnet Funeral Home. |

Back in 1997, when my dad died, we put him in his flannel shirt, his BB cap and his favorite jeans. It was who he was, and sticking him in a suit would not have been cool. I remember feeling uncomfortable about it for a split second, as it was not the norm, but it was perfect for him. Can't say I would have propped him up with a rifle and fishing pole though!! LOL |
