Charges Against Brent Burke to Be Dropped

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. -- Murder charges against Fort Campbell soldier Brent Burke could soon be dropped as early as next week.

The information came from Tracy Burke's father, David Wilburn.

Brent was charged with killing his estranged wife, Tracy Burke, and her former mother-in-law, Karen Comer in 2007.

Tracy's stepmother, Gracia Wilburn, told WLKY by phone, "There's no justice. She has to have justice, and Karen has to have justice, and these children. Every time there's a trial, they have to get up on the stand and point the finger, and no one is listening. I don't understand that, because the children were there. These are eye witnesses, why can't eye witnesses get a conviction?"

Burke was tried four times. The first two ended in mistrials and the last two in hung juries.

Burke's father said he has not yet been contacted about the charges being dropped against his son.

The commonwealth's attorney was not available to comment.
