Car Thief Suspect Asks Undercover Cop for Ride
March 3, 2011 SALEM, Ore. -- A suspect who police said abandoned a stolen car soon found a ride -- except it was directly to jail thanks to an undercover officer on duty nearby the scene of the crime. A Salem Police Officer spotted a parked Acura Integra near Bush Park Thursday after it had been reported stolen. The officer soon saw a man get into the car and drive away before stopping the car on Owens Street S and fleeing on foot. About a half-hour later investigators said 31-year-old Lloyd Wright walked up to an undercover Salem Police officer sitting in a parked car and asked the officer for a ride. Wright was cuffed and taken to jail, charged with unauthorized use and possession of a vehicle and criminal tresspass. |
