Bruce Willis Retires from Acting After Aphasia Diagnosis
![]() Bruce Willis’ family has announced the actor is retiring from the profession after being diagnosed with aphasia, a language disorder caused by brain damage that affects a person’s ability to communicate. Willis’ family members posted a joint statement to social media announcing the actor’s retirement. “To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities,” the statement reads. “As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him." “This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support,” the statement continues. “We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him. As Bruce always says, ‘Live it up’ and together we plan to do just that.” ![]() News story link>>>>https://variety.com/2022/film/news/b...ia-1235219017/ |

Re: Bruce Willis Retires from Acting After Aphasia Diagnosis
He's been churning out movie after movie that were absolutely atrocious, he should have retired long since. If you can't be bothered to do your job properly it's time to quit.

Loved him in Die Hard and Pulp Fiction. He's been making shit lately to be honest but that doesn't really matter at the end of the day. This is sad news and I hope it doesn't destroy him.

Re: Bruce Willis Retires from Acting After Aphasia Diagnosis
I think he knew or expected the diagnosis and that's why he was doing so many bad movies one after the other, for the money before he had to retire.

I knew him years ago. I did enjoy his movies, however he was quite demanding. narcissistic and nasty when on set. He surrounded himself with bodyguards, when nobody would want to hurt him. Severe paranoia.

Re: Bruce Willis Retires from Acting After Aphasia Diagnosis
It may have been that he sensed that something was wrong, and he didn't want to interact with strangers at all, and thus the tight security. He may have wanted to walk the tightrope of ability to function as long as he could, so he could earn as much as he could before he had to quit. People look at it as narcisissim and being an asshole, but it may have just been his desperate attempt to keep going as long as possible, and that he just wasn't ABLE to communicate with strangers. It probably wasn't very pleasant for him. I hope they take good care of him.
