Brittney Griner Is Flying Home After Prisoner Swap With Russia
https://www.washingtonpost.com/natio...a-viktor-bout/ WNBA star Brittney Griner has been released from Russian detention and is expected to land in San Antonio, a military official with knowledge of the effort told The Washington Post. After her arrival, Griner will be taken to a medical facility in San Antonio where she will receive care and will be reunited with her wife, Cherelle Griner, and her parents, a senior administration official told CNBC on Thursday. Moscow released the athlete in a swap for convicted Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout, according to two senior administration officials and a separate statement from Russia’s Foreign Ministry. Biden approved the release of Bout more than a decade after his conviction, commuting his 25-year prison sentence. “As I have urged for some time, given the fifteen long years that Viktor Bout has been in custody since the United States government targeted him in 2006, his exchange for Brittney Griner, who has only been in custody for a few months, is fair,” Steve Zissou, Bout’s New York-based lawyer, told The Washington Post. Griner had been in Russian custody since her arrest at an airport near Moscow in February, when she was accused of entering the country with illegal vape cartridges containing less than a gram of cannabis oil. Her lawyers said it was prescribed as part of treatment for chronic pain and other conditions. The United States designated her detention “wrongful.” Biden stressed that he has not forgotten about Paul Whelan, a former Marine imprisoned in Russia on espionage charges. Some lawmakers criticized the administration for not securing Whelan’s release as well. A senior administration official told The Washington Post that the choice was between bringing home Griner or no one. |

Re: Brittney Griner Is Flying Home After Prisoner Swap With Russia
I’m sorry to read this. She doesn’t deserve to be coming back. They should have tossed the key and then the finger to the US. They got a WAY better deal than we did. They got back somebody of worth while we get a stupid bitch that doesn’t even care for her own country. Fuck her. I’m sorry they let her out… |

Trading a dope smoking liberal woke gay athlete media icon for a Russian mafia bad guy who puts illegal arms in the hands of criminals and US enemies. That pretty much summarizes the Dem platform in one fell swoop, doesn't it? |

There is no question that as part of the trade, a yet disclosed amount of cash was secreted into numbered accounts of Biden's select friends and family. The only question is whether Biden will be stupid enough to brag about it in front of video cams again. What the heck. Apparently that doesn't matter to half the voters in America. |

No, we still retain our yammer rights, because the guns that are causing the most damage to our country in recent years don't come from Russian arms dealers. They come from Walmart |
