A 13-year-old boy shot and killed his 6-year-old brother in Hudson after an argument about food.

He also shot an older brother, 16, before committing suicide, Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said. The three brothers had been home alone eating dinner. When they started arguing the 13-year-old retrieved a handgun, deputies said.

Pasco County deputies are investigating the shooting, which occurred in a mobile home park on the 16000 block of Bachmann Avenue on Wednesday night.

"This is a horrific scene," Nocco said. "This is a nightmare."

Deputies responded to a call at 6:19 p.m. about the shooting. The 16-year-old was taken to the hospital with a non- life-threatening gunshot wound.

The three boys lived in the home with their mother and an 18-year-old brother. The mom was at work, and the 18-year-old was not at home.

Nocco said it's not yet clear who owned the gun.

Neighbors were in shock as the details were revealed Wednesday evening. They said they didn't know the family. The street is typically quiet, residents said.

“I don't understand it really. It doesn't make any sense,” neighbor Stephanie Ridgeway said.

I live in Pasco county. Stuff like this does not surprise me, sadly. This is one of the worst counties in Florida.
