Bear Attacks Pedestrian in Japan

Multiple bear attack incidents causing deaths and injuries have occurred in various parts of Japan, including forested areas and nearby residential zones. This year, at least 12 people have died and over 100 have been injured.

The Japan Self-Defense Forces have dispatched personnel to areas severely affected by bear damage to assist in crisis response.

Reports indicate that due to regulatory restrictions, the deployed Self-Defense Force members are not carrying firearms but are instead prepared to respond to bear attacks with wooden bayonets and other equipment, a move that has caused public dissatisfaction and helplessness.

On Nov 6, the Japan National Police Agency announced a decision to relax the traditionally strict gun control regulations to take strong measures against "bear damage," allowing riot police to shoot bears that threaten human safety with rifles. The new regulation will take effect on the Nov 13th. (next Thursday).

... allowing riot police to shoot bears that threaten human safety with rifles ...
But what if the bear doesn't have a rifle? Will they be left alone?

Anyway, I feel sorry for the victim in this video - but that;s what happens when you are out in public with a bear behind.

Japan deserves random bear attacks for banning Honda gas lawnmower sales in the US. Effing envirotyrants.

Re: Bear Attacks Pedestrian in Japan

Humans expand into wildlife areas? Check

Humans reduce animal territory so they have less food and space? Check

When wild animal come near humans, they see it as the animal being dangerous, not them creating the danger in the first place? Check

Humans claim to be the most intelligent species, yet humans often choose the simplest, harshest solution rather than solving the root cause.

An epic fail for being the most intelligent species, for not using it at all when dealing with nature.

I ended up paying big bucks for a commercial mower. Every other residential mower these days is full of Chinese junk, including Toro.
