Re: Baltimore Settlement with Freddie Gray Family
Does this mean the Baltimore mayor knows the case against the police is a lost cause? After all, this has never been done before. A city always allows the case to go forward before settling suit. So the city doesn't taint the jury, by basically declaring their guilt. How could a jury in Baltimore possibly believe the cops did nothing to kill this man after the mayor approves a 6 million dollar settlement? It's also insane that just under a million dollars is the most the city can pay for pain and suffering. So they determined, this unemployed dropout was set to make over 5 million dollars. Which is based on absolutely nothing. Because that's what he was worth when he died. Makes me think she knows the cops will walk. And she had to do this before the the trail. She wanted to declare the police guilty a second time before their day in court. |

Re: Baltimore Settlement with Freddie Gray Family
Or maybe she is worried that details are going to come out in the trial that will make 6 million look like a bargain. I'd be surprised if one of these cops doesn't make a deal to walk in exchange for testimony. Who knows what might see the light of day? |

Re: Baltimore Settlement with Freddie Gray Family
Just shows your ignorance. Guess how much was the total paid out by Baltimore in the last 100 police/city settlements? Basically extending the last 5 years. Give you a hint, it still isn't as much as the Grey family received. The amount is so ridiculous it's clearly a message. Nobody, especially someone who doesn't even have a job, gets 6 million dollars from the city. Bargain |

Re: Baltimore Settlement with Freddie Gray Family
I'm not privy to whatever information the prosecution has, but obviously you are so maybe you can share with the class soldier Eric Garners family received almost 6 million. Rodney King received almost 4 million 20 years ago. It's not without precedent. |

Re: Baltimore Settlement with Freddie Gray Family
I don't know much about the Freddy case. Patrick Kane's rape case is being postponed and a out of court settlement is being issued between Kane and the alleged victim. The problem there is, even if he is guilty, depending on the amount of evidence, her lawyers might just tell her it's in her best interest to just take the settlement. It's how rich guys buy their way out of going to court all the time.
