so, am I anywhere near accurate when likening the upcoming situation in australia to the DUST BOWL of the '30s in the USA???? .....Where the topsoil was rendered sterile (not by the same means as the topsoil in Australia??

Yeah Pinky , it would be along the same lines. Was the 30's Dust Bowl due to chemical or biological contaminents ?? The topsoil in Oz is basically where all the growing gets done and gets growing well. By taking it off it limits pretty much everything a farmer can hope to achieve with his land. And yes Steveo that fuckin sucks haha. My Grandfather was a farmer way back and they are a tough breed.
