The homeowner should have put the gun out of reach of the children when they came over, or refused to let them in the house. I'm all for responsible gun ownership. Leaving a loaded gun where a three year old can reach it isn't responsible. It would have been as easy as putting it on a high shelf the kid couldn't reach. I wouldn't even leave a lit candle where a kid that small could reach it.

What happened could have been avoided by using just some reason and common sense: it's true, accidents happen, but of course they'll occur much more often if we do NOTHING to avoid them.

Yes, Comrade Candice81, you are correct! We, the peace loving people of the international working man's party agree...firearms should not be allowed to be owned by the people. Otherwise the unhappy people might be tempted to overthrow the people's duely and peacefully elected government...that would be an injustice and they would be denounced most harshly for their anti-socialist actions. All those still possessing a firearm after our new rules take effect will be disappeared and eliminated. Firearms are a key possession of those that despise our peaceful people's ideology and as such those firearms represent a grave threat to the party. We, the peaceful civilized Worker's must rely only on the people's neighborhood watch to protect us from capitalist villainy and aggressors. Freedom is a fantasy...submit to the people's will! Group think is the new freedom! Reliance on the people's government over individual freedoms is mandatory! Forward into the past! Down with freedom...the people's government is your new god!

There's a big difference between putting up your gun where a child can't reach it and not being allowed to own a gun at all. |

I propose a ban on 3-year-olds and 78-year-olds. As well as anyone in between those two age ranges. Many guns will be needed to enforce this ban that I propose. |
