Re: Alabama Inmate Executed Using Nitrogen Gas
I don't see why they don't use beheading by guillotine again. It seems like the most humane way out there. I think they could definitely modernize the process to maximize speed and limit mess. I mean, it could be entirely conducted within a enclosed container with a randomized three button trigger so nobody knows for sure they're responsible. The condemned would be out in a split second.

Helium is the painless, struggless gas. The body doesn't respond to being strangled by Helium. You just die very quickly.

Also, with nitrogen, I bet he didn't sound like Donald Duck, either.

Re: Alabama Inmate Executed Using Nitrogen Gas
True but apparently it makes a suicide extremely bloody... from what I've been told by a cop who had to go to one of those scenes. Guy put a plastic bag over his head, rented two helium tanks and ran tubes into the bag, turned it on and lay down in bed. Helium breaks down soft tissues so the first responders just saw a bubbling bag of blood around his head.

Re: Alabama Inmate Executed Using Nitrogen Gas
Kill two birds with one stone, no pun intended. No suffering, and dead. Knock them out with general anesthesia. Then administer high levels of carbon monoxide. Several people could push a button and no one would know who actually administered the gas. Death is quick, and they would be unaware. I had a doctor in an ER almost kill me by giving me an excessive amount of Dilaudid for pain control, then sending me on my merry way. It was an hour drive back to our house and my husband thought I was sleeping. Until, that is, he tried to “wake me up” because we were home. Not happening! The medics said I had five minutes or less and I would not have been able to be saved. When they got there, my oxygen was 32. I was blue. Respiration rate was four. I did the white light experience before regaining consciousness in the ER. I know that there was zero discomfort, fear, or pain with that experience! Of course, I didn’t realize what was happening either. I just remember feeling so, so very good. We don’t have to make them suffer. I do believe in divine justice. The truly evil will suffer plenty. |
