Re: 9 Year Old Boy Commits Suicide After Learning Mummies Are Real
Reading it it seemed fake, and I can see from the comments it's been checked and confirmed as fake. The way the article was written was too 'over the top'... If the kid really died they wouldn't say anything about 'him being a dumbass...' etc even if someone did say that about him.

Re: 9 Year Old Boy Commits Suicide After Learning Mummies Are Real
poor little fella... yes this world is a scary place. That's why I try to prepare my children by talking to them about the world and things they might(or might not) encounter in their lives. Coddling and shielding them will only make them timid and naive in how to deal with what the world has to offer them.

Re: 9 Year Old Boy Commits Suicide After Learning Mummies Are Real
If this is true, the teacher handled it wrongly. Firstly, who shows 9 year olds DEAD people without the permission of their parents? He coulda shown them drawings and explained the process that way. Also,i'm guessing the kid has seen a whole bunch of 'Mummy' horror flicks e.g the Bela Lugosi ones or the Brendan Frasier series.Teacher,on seeing his distress could have clarified that REAL mummies are merely wrapped preserved bodies, and the mummies of the silver screen are bullshit."Don't worry, kid, they're dead and they STAY dead.Mummies in movies are total nonsense'.Easy peasy. I remember being about 7 or 8 and being freaked out by the old Leonard Nimoy series 'In Search Of' when they did Alien abduction.I had to sleep in my mother's bed.You just never know what will freak kids out. Sad that he didn't confide in his parents. The whole mess may have been avoided if he'd done that. Some kids ARE more suggestible than others. |
