Re: 62 Year Old Man Mauled by Two Pit Bulls in Bronx Street
If you can't control your dogs, don't have your dogs. Simple as that. Give that it's not the first time, those dogs should be destroyed, and the owner imprisoned and banned from owning ANY type of dog in the future. Obviously not trained.

I wouldn't go quite that far. I reckon she thought she could have the dogs for "protection" so that no-one would mess with her. Problem is, no training. No strength to control two dogs at once. And an idiot owner afraid of everyone and everything. She's behind bars now, and if there's any sort of law, the dogs will be destroyed and she can rot in jail for a few years. |

Re: 62 Year Old Man Mauled by Two Pit Bulls in Bronx Street
Instead of grabbing a hose, I'da grabbed a few steak knives / chef knives / sharp objects, passed them out and asked others to back me up as I went to town on those animals. I was cornered by two pits when I was a teen; luckily I was at the back door, so I just slipped right out - scary as fuck. They eventually wound up tearing up (literally) the cats a few years later. |

What bothers me the most about that video is the man with the small child. He even leads her over to where the dogs have been temporarily corralled on the sidewalk and doesn't even grab her when they go after the other man, literally passing within five feet of them! His body language speaks of pure nonchalance. Unbelievable.

Re: 62 Year Old Man Mauled by Two Pit Bulls in Bronx Street
I work at a dog daycare and had the unfortunate job of breaking up a nasty fight between two pit bulls - a small male and larger female. Not only was it difficult to grab the hind legs of a dog hell bent on moving and destroying the other one, but every time I would get a hold of the male's legs and my coworker would get a hold of the female's legs, their teeth would still be latched onto a various part of the other's face. We couldn't simply pull them apart without them taking chunks out of their faces (or wherever they happened to be latched onto at the time). Every time they would let go...they would reattach faster than we could coordinate to pull them backwards. Eventually I used my fist to bang the female as hard as I could on the head, and they separated long enough for me to grab the male's entire body, struggle to open the door with my bloody hands (their blood, not mine) and shove him out the door. Fortunately those two pits were only hellbent on killing each other and had no interest in harming the other dogs or me or my coworkers. They both completely calmed down the moment they were separated, which allowed me to sit down with the male and clean his wounds. |

I'll have you know that the female attacked HIM, completely out of the blue, while he was trying to cheer up a grumpy playmate. He was only defending himself.
