I swear to God I don't know why the fuck people don't grab dogs by the legs (front or back) and level them on the nearest brick wall. There must be something I don't understand in a dog attack - 70 lbs vs 200...

Most of the time, it's not that easy. Grabbing by the back legs is the best idea, but not easy when the dog is moving. Grab it by the front legs, and your face/throat/arms can take serious/life threatening damage. |

In one of a friends safety classes, they were taught that if the dog is coming at you, and a bite is inevitable, shove your arm fist first (obviously) as far down the dogs throat as possible.....This will be painful!!!!! Then straddle the dog yanking its head backward with your embedded arm (while your free arm is putting your weight across the neck at the base of the head.

Mandatory training, criminal background checks would prevent a lot of this shit. Good to see the owner was charged though. That's what should happen, hold the owners accountable as if they did it themselves. A dog like that ( not just pits ) are a deadly weapon. |

I agree, but it's not just stupid criminals that have dangerous dogs. There are stupid people without criminal records, that have ticking timebombs in their homes. There are SO many people with tweaked out dogs, because they don't know how to properly treat and train them. People who think their dog is aggressive because it's "protective", but really, the dog is just neurotic and fearful, but acting offensive, instead of defensive. I've seen this behavior in many owners and all breeds and mixes of dogs. There really is no way of enforcing a nanny law on dog ownership. There isn't enough money or man power to keep tabs.  |
