Re: 62 Year Old Man Mauled by Two Pit Bulls in Bronx Street
If you work at a dog daycare, you and the company you work for, should know not to have dog breeds who were created for dog combat - loose together. Then again, the majority of dog breeds are known for at least a base level of dog aggression. I could never put my dogs somewhere where they had access to other dogs. Even if your dog has never been in a fight, they may hate one of the other dogs. A serious fight can happen. If dogs are too big for a single person to be able to separate them from a fight, they shouldn't have the opportunity to get into one - no matter how sweet their temperament is. |

Re: 62 Year Old Man Mauled by Two Pit Bulls in Bronx Street
what morons, how many times did those dogs get away from the "handler"...Ive broken up many big dog fights, grab them by the scuff of the neck and lift them up. Im a 130lb female and Ive broken up fights of 80lb dogs. Isolate the one dog then get the other if they are serious about the attack like these are. Jab the eyes. One hand grabbing the scuff of the neck the other fingers poke the eye out if its killing someone. I would have put an end to at least one of these monsters, might have gotten bit up but it would have been worth it. Every time I see someone promoting these devil spawn things as family pets I want to puke.

Animals should have be taken from the woman when her beloved pets bit and attacked in the past. No, it takes a severe mauling for them to do something about it.

Re: 62 Year Old Man Mauled by Two Pit Bulls in Bronx Street
I did not even realize that this was legal to do. Dogs that are specifically bred for combat definitely not be around ANY other dogs. They will attack on impulse. anyone from a vwet to a walker/handler should know this. My question to you is aren't there laws that are in place to prevent thus? |

Re: 62 Year Old Man Mauled by Two Pit Bulls in Bronx Street
Not every dog behaves the same, in the same breed. There are thousands of dogs who will never pick a fight, but then there are thousands that will. That goes for all breeds. There's too much variety, so the laws against specific breeds seem prejudiced. The businesses can have their own rules, stating that they do not accept specific breeds. It is up to them, how they want to conduct business. Insurance companies are known for this. Their banned breed lists get longer every day. Regardless of weather your dog has ever done anything or not. It's up to you to do research on the daycare/kennel you are placing your dog in. Do you really want your dog running around with other dogs, trusting someone who you don't know, to accurately judge how your, and everyone else's dogs are feeling? No matter how nice my dogs are, there's no way I'd ever take that risk. Go to pick your dog up, and find out that there was an "accident" and your dog's throat was ripped out by the sweet 100lb golden retriever, who was having a bad day. Even the best dogs aren't robots. They all have bad days that are out of character. Can you tell I'm not a fan of off leash community canine gatherings? |

Re: 62 Year Old Man Mauled by Two Pit Bulls in Bronx Street
we have a couple of retired/injured K9s that are very well trained but we still pay more in insurance premiums. They make us pay increased premiums on our lake camp as well...because we take the dogs there. The company, at least, hasn't banned any breeds living in my house. That could change at any time, though. I would never take that chance either. I would find someone to stay at my house first. |
