She *should* be held accountable but my prediction is she'll plea bargain and list some extenuating circumstances to get a ridiculously small sentence. Yes she plowed into dozens of people. Yes some died, including a toddler. Dozens might still be in the hospital. Yes there's a video and many witnesses. Yes what she did is absolutely horrible. I still don't see her serving a lot of time. Would I like to see her spend the rest of her life behind bars? Of course! But I'm predicting 3 years max, although I'd not be surprised if that was followed by electronic home monitoring and some community service. I sure hope I'm wrong with my estimate. Defense attorneys probably lined up at the door trying to get this case pro bono just for the publicity it will bring, and if the lawyer / legal team representing her can come with ANY excuse to greatly minimize the amount of time their client will serve, it will be great for their careers. A cousin of mine was killed by a drunk driver many years ago. IIRC the woman who killed him only got around a year of prison time. I wasn't surprised. My cousin never had the chance to get married, have kids, watch them grow up, etc. Yet the woman who killed him gets all of those things. Doesn't seem right. |

I don't give a shit if you're mentally ill or not. If you are capable of choosing to drive a car into a crowd and kill people, you're capable of accepting a murder charge and the punishment that goes with it. Fucking twat.
