Re: 12 Year Old Boy Takes His Life After Being Bullied for Being a Cheerleader

I've been in a few predominantly atheist countries. They have their shithole qualities as well.

Aside from that, I don't see religion playing any part in the bullying epidemic, not in any country. It is a social standard alone. Japan is the leading bullying country on a roster of many countries that have the social issue. There, the common reason for bullying has nothing to do with religion, or any imaginary belief system. Kids there get bullied into suicidal episodes over mostly school grades.

In the case of this, I'll assume you think its because of the deep rooted prejudices of gays, that Christians harbor being the over all influential cause on a national level. I don't think so, it's been an social discrimination by those who don't align with any religion, or even if they did, are hardly participants In practice, as well.

Athesit also, can, and some do, disagree with homosexuality as well. Even if we miraculously changed the entire country atheist, doesn't mean the social norm will adopt progressive standards.
I think that's the mindset of progressives. That getting rid of religion would create progressives.

That's just it, people are fast to blame religion for everything, when in truth it is just mass social acceptance on selective desired standards.

Just like the anti-gay religious sentiment. The bible has a handful of verses about homosexuality, but thousands of verses that would dictate acceptance, and non discrimination. But mass majority of society decided to shun homosexuality in it's entirety. The bible, and the handful of versus were just a crutch to stand on.

Same could have happened if we were a nation of atheist. We could have chosen the same path, just used some other handful of rhetoric to back up our cause. If the mass of society agrees on a particular standard, everyone will sway along, until the time comes a group challenges the theory.

How did you get bullied on here?
Are you serious, or do you not go to the water cooler?

I hate to break it to you, but that's not bulling..

Bulling would involve them actually going after you, like posting derogatory things on your FB wall, Hacking your account and posting lies as you, going onto your work forum and making comments to get you fired or reprimanded, reposting images of you with defamatory comments about you so people you know could see or worse..

They just think you're annoying and tell you how they feel.

I disagree. I think America proves that theory false. America was founded on religious freedom. And has been for the most part a Christian people since our founding. Maybe less now than ever

And America helped spark a huge evolution in numerous areas, that have changed the world. Look at the 2000 years before America. And then look at the 200 years after. I think that proves Freedom sparks evolution, no matter your higher power beliefs.

I agree that the old church shouldn't be in control of the people. And in America they're not. I completely disagree with the broad attack on religion, it never adds up.
do you believe in god?...as in do you believe there is a god in heaven waiting to welcome you when you die?

I don't believe there's a god in heaven waiting for us no. I'm not a religious person at all. But I know a lot of people who are, including members of my family. So I grew up believing in God, although I'm not a believer today I respect their beliefs. And I tend to stand with religion when people attack it with a broad brush. Because like I said, my mom is religious, so I identify with them.

As Vrist said. I believe religion gets the blame for many things that would have happened with or without religion. And I know religion is to blame for a lot of killing. But look at history, godless people also killed, and looked upon people foreign to them as inferior.

In America there's groups of nonbelievers who sue and protest a fucking Christmas tree in a mall. They say it's offensive and violates there freedom from religion. I think that's sad, and wrong. There's places on earth that will kill you for not believing, now that's offensive. But candy ass Americans get offended that they even have to see a cross in public.

Thank you, Soar!

I honestly thought male cheerleaders were more mainstream now.
