A neighbor who helped her hours after the assault shares shocking details.

Tuesday morning around 7:20 the woman's neighbor, Dennis Delgado, was getting ready for school when he says he heard a loud banging on his front door.

"All I saw was a frightened old lady," says Delgado. "She also had her clothes completely off. She had everything off. She only had a towel on."

Delgado says the woman was hyperventilating and shaking uncontrollably. He brought her inside and all she said was, 'Someone is in my house! Someone broke into my house!'

"My dad actually grabbed a bat and we went to go check," says Delgado. "We saw the back door all broken into. After examining if anyone was in the house, we just went to go tell her that everything was alright."

Wichita police say two people broke into her home on the 800 block of S. Crestway St. while she was alone between 9 p.m. Monday night and 7 a.m. Tuesday morning. Medical tests confirmed she was raped. Delgado says he was in complete shock when he found out that afternoon.

"It felt unbelievable," says Delgado. "If someone would actually do that to an elder, imagine what they would do to anyone else."

The Delgado's have lived next to the woman for a year and say they had only seen her once before Tuesday morning, the day before when they waved at her. They have since been in contact with her daughter who told them she is still recovering in the hospital.

"I'd do anything to at least give her that peace of mind again," says Delgado. "At least not make her feel any more scared than she already was."

With the suspects still on the loose, Delgado says this horrific attack serves as a wake up call to the entire neighborhood to make sure houses are secured.

"It actually does get me a little scared of living here," says Delgado. "I close my windows to make sure I lock the doors super tight."

Police say since this happened when it was dark inside the woman's home, she wasn't able to give a detailed description of the suspects.
