Following a fight at North Atlanta High School on December 12, 2025, officials implemented a complete ban on personal scissors for students.

This incident was the second scissor-related attack at the school in 2025, following a similar event in April.

The confrontation started as a physical scuffle between two students in the hallway near the cafeteria.

On January 7, 2026, a judge granted bond to 17-year-old Monterris P. Jr., who is charged with aggravated assault.

He is under 24-hour house arrest, prohibited from accessing social media and barred from contacting the victim or returning to the school.

The victim's attorney reported severe, permanent injuries, including damage to the eye, throat and thyroid.

While officials have not confirmed a single official motive, conflicting accounts from witnesses and legal teams describe the triggers for the December 2025 fight.

During a bond hearing in early 2026, it was alleged that the victim may have approached the suspect and pulled his hair while the suspect was wearing headphones and listening to music.

The suspect's attorney argued that his client had been bullied and manipulated by other students for some time prior to the attack.

The victim's family and legal team maintain that the victim is a special needs student who was not the aggressor.

Couldn't imagine the national rage if that was a white kid, at a predominately white school, doing that to a black kid.

If it were like that, people would blame his parents for not raising him correctly. Maybe even sentence them to jail for buying him a pair of scissors.

But in this case, it's brushed off as "he's just angry."

That tells me that when a white kid acts like this, it's perceived to be abnormal, and that when a black kid acts like this, it's perceived to be normal.

So, we collectively agree that it is normal for black kids to be raised poorly, and raising them poorly is what we want. If we punished their parents in the same manor as white parents, then it might fix the problem, which clearly, isn't what we want.

It isn't "poor oppressed blacks, let's give them a pass," it's "they're doing exactly as we designed."
