I find it ridiculous people talking about freedom of speech and religion. If the guy had gone in there, ordered his food, maybe said hello and goodbye like a normal person, then nothing would have happened to him. Instead he went in there thinking he was superman because he'd had a skin full of lager and got knocked out.

And let's not pretend the drunkard was trying to make some deep philosophical point here. He went in there to antagonise people and was complacent enough to believe they would accept his behaviour with passivity. It didn't work out that way and, in the event, he's lucky a single punch was all he took. There are other people, of all races and religions, who might have stomped him whilst he was down.
