I sponsor a girl with learning difficulties in Romania and she was bullied at the school she went to, which was a school for "normal" kids. Because at school she was treated the same as the others she got behind on her work and the teachers would shout at her. The other kids picked up on this and used to tease her and sometimes hit her and steal her clothes and her glasses. Luckily, the home where she lived was run by a charity and they intervened but it wasn't until they had spoken to the head of the school three times that it was stopped. The attitude of the teachers was that if she wasn't tough enough to defend herself, then it was her problem and not something they should interfere with. I'm sad to see it happening in the video but it happens everywhere, in every country. It just depends if the person can defend themselves and what the attitude the authorities have about it. If no one knows or cares then it'll continue.    |
