He should have rank taken away, his service file noted, PTed, do base services and miss leaves. The courts, Navy and his designated team will settle the rest. Simply put, a dishonorable discharge over this, is pushing the envelope way to far.

There's a difference between "liking a good tussle" and hitting an old lady with a metal pipe for no reason. You could make a reasonable argument that he shouldn't be discharged based on what he did. I probably wouldn't agree with it, but a logical argument could be made. However, to bring up bar fights and "tussles" is a red herring. He didn't get in a "tussle" he went around beating people with a large metal pipe unprovoked.
