Sometimes these ambush attacks are planned and executed so well, the perps can get in, on, and out before someone passing by can figure out what's going on. I remember running through Philly train stations in a hurry to make a connection and sometimes passing fights in progress. I had no idea who or what was involved over why. So with no obvious victim (like a helpless granny or disabled person), you just kept moving. Sure, this one was a many-on-one dustup, but what can a passerby in that situation really do without a firearm or a cop in his pocket?  (And that's why I moved to a rural area. Now I know my neighbors and can tell the aggressors from the victims. Target acquisition is much easier now.  )
