A jury in Hendricks county has found Samuel Via III Guilty of 4 criminal counts including criminal mischief and criminal recklessness in connection to an incident involving his teenage son.

Last April, witnesses saw Via ram his truck into another truck driven by 2 teenage boys.
The boys had been in a fight with Via's son.

The tape shows Via first watching his son fight one of the boys and doing nothing to break up the fight.

Then the boys, including 17-year-old driver Christopher Mink, try to leave Via's house.

Via is then gets into his truck and rams the boys truck against his house, pinning them inside.

Via's son and daughter were inside the house taping the whole showdown.

Mink said he's relieved with the jury's verdict.

"He was telling his son to beat the crap out of me. No parent should do that. It's psychotic," said Mink.

"He tried to run over my child with his truck," said Darrell Mink, Chris' father.

Via maintained he was acting in self-defense but the Hendricks county jury didn't buy it.

"Samuel Via III acted in defense of his family and of his property on April 8, 2008.

He acted under the belief that Christopher Mink and Connor Hueston attempted to run over his son with their vehicle; after he felt his daughter and younger son faced a threat from Mink and Hueston while home alone; and, after Mink damaged his property in an effort to avoid the authorities.

While respecting the verdict of the jury, he remains in disagreement with it and looks forward to the prospect of appealing its decision," said a statement from Via's attorney, Fred Vaiana.

Via was guilty on four of six counts including criminal mischief, criminal confinement, and criminal recklessness. He was found not guilty on two counts of criminal confinement and battery.

Via could now face up to 8 years in jail.
