Re: Cheater Escapes 3rd Story Floor, but Not Angry Guy Chasing After Him
Yes, this is obviously in Russia and the architectural composition of the apartment block indicates that it was constructed post war, perhaps sometime in the late 40s to the early 60s. Inside, apartments such as these sometimes have very nice 12ft ceilings. If they've been remodeled they can be very nice. The apartment walls feel like they might be made from really strong breeze blocks. The inside is cool in the summer, which is important because the design was used all over the socialist word. In winter, hot water is usually delivered from a central plant in the city or in the specific district you live in. Your radiator stays on from autumn until it warms up again. Summer is all hot water infrastructure maintenance. This is one of the reasons that you see water pipes traveling over the surface, rather than underground, in post-socialist environments. I'd imagine a fire in one of these would be bad no matter what floor you live on. It's very common to see walls insulated with rugs, some of them really nice. Plus the electrical infrastructure of these buildings is usually poor. I've had outlets that just catch on fire sometimes. Just a fact of daily life. I wonder if a house fire would easily spread to other apartments, considering the walls are thick concrete. |
