Quick defense tip. If someone comes charging at you with an overhead attack with a long stick, don't run back. Instead, charge forward into them and punch them in the face or preferably abdomen area (since the target is larger and your fist doesn't have to deal with the hard bone of the skull). The stick won't come down on you and gives you a chance to disarm them.
