Not quite. I learned a bit of jujitsu, aikido, and judo for self defense. a jujitsu artist or fighter if you may, will not let himself get caught in a hug like that.

you have a good point. although most asian who learned martial arts ( even black or whites who are true to the code) never hit a guy in a fair fight when the other guy is already down. It boils down to because it will dishonor the sensei or mentor when the teaching is used against a helpless and downed combatant. SO mostly when a martial artist refrains from hitting a downed opponent, its not because of his respect for the opponent but because of his respect for his teacher and his teaching.
