A 54-year-old repeat offender was arrested by police in Vladivostok after brutally assaulting a 14-year-old boy in an elevator in a residential building on Khabarovskaya Street.

The attack took place right in front of the victim's 6-year-old brother, who suffered severe emotional distress and a hysterical breakdown from witnessing the violence. The 14-year-old was hospitalized with extensive bruising and a concussion.

Investigators identified the attacker as a local resident with a history of prior criminal convictions who was visiting someone in the building.

Police tracked down and detained the suspect after reviewing the building's surveillance footage.

The Investigative Committee of the Primorsky Krai region has officially opened a criminal case against the man for "hooliganism" (public assault/violence).

The attacker claimed that the boy entered the elevator incorrectly and did not show proper respect, using it as a fabricated pretext to get aggressive.

According to the victim's mother, even if there was any perceived slight, the teenager immediately tried to de-escalate and apologize. The footage proves the attacker completely ignored this and chose to launch a brutal assault anyway.

Because the suspect is a 54-year-old repeat offender and the attack involved a minor (with a 6-year-old witness causing extreme psychological trauma), the prosecution is tracking severe potential penalties.

Under Part 1 or Part 2 of russia's criminal law regarding hooliganism involving violence or threats of violence, the suspect faces up to 5 to 7 years in prison.
