No charges were reported after a Texas woman called 911 in April 2009 to say A&D Buffalo's in Haltom City, near Fort Worth, had shorted her on extra shrimp.

The woman, a regular customer at the restaurant, told the dispatcher she had paid extra for additional shrimp in her fried rice order and the kitchen never added it. "I always get the shrimp fried rice, so I said I'm going to get extra meat this time," she said on the call, adding that the employee who packed her order "didn't even put extra shrimp in there."

According to the dispatch recording, the woman asked the restaurant for a refund but was told she was not eligible because she had already left the building and come back inside. She began yelling and returned with her boyfriend, and the two made a scene before leaving, according to police accounts of the incident cited by local media.

A Haltom City police spokesman said an officer was sent to A&D Buffalo's, but the woman was gone by the time he arrived. He told reporters the call was unlikely to result in any punishment, explaining that misuse-of-911 charges in Texas require a caller to either stay silent on the line or be abusive or obscene toward the call taker. "She was none of those things," the spokesman said.

No report on any charges being filed afterward has surfaced. The call drew national attention after it was picked up by local Dallas-Fort Worth television and later national outlets, who noted the disputed shrimp was worth roughly a dollar and a half.
