Police Audio From The Old Bridge Pathmark Shooting
Employees accepted deliveries and carried out other tasks inside the Old Bridge Pathmark today, but the supermarket remained closed to customers days after two workers were gunned down by another employee.
"We don’t have a reopening date yet, but it will be sometime after the funeral services have been held," Pathmark spokeswoman Marcy Connor said today.
Authorities say Bryan Breen, 24, and Cristina LoBrutto, 18, both of Old Bridge, were shot inside the Pathmark at about 4 a.m. on Friday, after ex-Marine Terence Tyler, 23, of Old Bridge, burst in armed with an automatic rifle and opened fire. Authorities said Tyler then shot himself with a handgun.
Yellow police tape cordoned off the store in the Old Bridge Shopping Plaza along Meleta Way off Route 9 and about three dozen cars were parked in the parking lot yesterday morning.
Within a 30-minute period, about 10 cars pulled in and then turned around after realizing the store was still closed.
The windows broken during the shooting rampage were still covered up. One window is covered with a large sign that reads, "In memory of Cristina and Bryan."
Tyler, an Old Bridge resident and ex-Marine, showed signs of a troubled past in his Twitter account where he posted thoughts of killing co-workers alongside many more innocuous tweets about sports and other musings.
An autopsy on Saturday determined Breen and LoBrutto each died of a single gunshot wound, according to Kaplan, whose office is investigating the case.
Tyler began working at the store about two weeks ago and had moved in with his sister in Old Bridge in June, after having lived in California for several years.
A Brooklyn native, Tyler was discharged in 2010 for unknown reasons from the Marine Corps.
Services for Breen and LoBrutto begin Tuesday.
Visitation for Breen is from 5-9 Tuesday night at the Old Bridge Funeral Home. A service for Breen will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at funeral home. Burial will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, the funeral home said.
Visitation for LoBrutto will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Michael Hegarty Funeral Home in Old Bridge. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church in Old Bridge. Entombment will follow in St. Gabriel Ceremony in Marlboro, according to funeral home.
