Person with a Gun Call in Chicago, Fatal Shooting in Hammond
On May 8, 2025, Chicago police responded to a call of a person with a gun in the 13400 block of S. Baltimore Avenue. Officers saw an individual entering a vehicle and fleeing the scene. The vehicle crashed a short time later in Hammond, Indiana. The individual exited the vehicle, and gunfire was exchanged between the individual and officers. The individual was struck multiple times and was taken to a hospital, where they were pronounced deceased. The officers were not struck by gunfire and were taken to a hospital for observation.
