Officer Fires at Fleeing Driver Near 5000 West Lawrence
On September 20, 2022, an off-duty Chicago police officer was involved in an incident with another driver near 5000 West Lawrence. The officer was shot in the face. After the shooting, responding officers viewed video from a nearby business and identified the shooter's vehicle. OEMC dispatchers broadcast the description, and units in the area began looking for it. Officers located the suspected vehicle and began to converge on it. Two officers approached the vehicle while giving verbal commands. The driver began to flee. One officer fired, did not strike the subject, and the subject fled the scene.
