Officer Fires After Gunshots Near 5900 S. Halsted
On December 24, 2022, an officer-involved shooting occurred near 5900 S. Halsted in Chicago. Two officers were driving southbound on Halsted near 59th Street when they heard multiple gunshots nearby. They observed an individual fire a weapon into a vehicle and attempt to flee. One officer got out of the police vehicle and fired at the subject. A brief vehicle pursuit followed, and three individuals fled on foot. The involved individuals have not been identified or apprehended.
