Off-duty Officer Shooting Near 4800 S. Bishop
At about 6 a.m. on August 3, 2025, an officer-involved shooting was reported near 4800 S. Bishop St. in Chicago. Four unknown subjects discharged firearms at off-duty Officer Cecilia Mercado as she parked her personal vehicle in her garage. Officer Mercado returned fire, and the subjects fled in a stolen vehicle. Officer Mercado's use of deadly force was found to comply with CPD policy, and no misconduct allegations related to this incident were served. Watch the video of this incident here.
