This audio is from an off-duty officer-involved shooting that happened around noon on January 18, 2023, at 1342 W. 90th Street in Chicago.

Off-duty Probationary Police Officer Precious Dunn discharged her firearm at an unnamed subject, striking him. The incident began when PPO Dunn tried to intervene in an altercation between the subject and three unidentified males.

After the males were separated, PPO Dunn and the subject stood on the sidewalk outside her apartment and spoke for a few moments. As she began walking past him toward her apartment door, he grabbed her and they struggled.

While on the ground during the struggle, PPO Dunn fired three times in his direction after he attempted to take her firearm. He was taken by ambulance to Advocate Christ Medical Center and died two days later.

Later findings did not sustain the allegation that PPO Dunn discharged her firearm without justification. Allegations that she was verbally abusive and unnecessarily displayed her weapon were sustained, and the allegation that she failed to identify herself as an officer was exonerated.
