Off-duty Officer-involved Shooting Near 5600 W. Leland Ave
On November 19, 2024, Chicago police were notified of an off-duty officer-involved shooting near 5600 W. Leland Ave. The incident began when an off-duty CPD officer observed a woman being attacked by an individual with a knife on the sidewalk. The officer approached and discharged their firearm, striking the individual, who then fled the scene. The individual was later located unresponsive inside a vehicle, transported to the hospital, and pronounced deceased. The off-duty officer also sustained an injury during the incident and was transported to the hospital in good condition. Watch the video of this incident here.
