BULLSHIT! You can turn the key on all modern cars one indentation and it will turn off the ignition, but still leave the steering and gearshift unlocked. The steering will still work. It will be heavy AND the brakes will still work WITH power if you don't pump them too many times. If you do they will still work, just not as effectively. You can also pull the emergency brake in that case to increase your braking power. This car COULD have been stopped with anybody that wasn't having a psychotic episode.

P.S. That info was for a car that has stalled. In this case there is NO excuse. If the engine is revving out of control, simply slip it into neutral and turn off the ignition one indentation and apply the brakes. DUH!
